3D Perspective towards the Development of a Metadata-Driven Sharing Mechanism for Heterogeneous CCTV Systems

The installation of closed-circuit television monitors (CCTV) has rapidly increased in number ever since the 11 September attacks. With advantages direct visual inspection, CCTV systems are widely used on various occasions that require instantaneous and long-term monitoring. Especially for emergency response tasks, prompt availability offers EOC (Emergency Operation Center) commanders much better action reference about reported incidents. However, heterogeneity among impedes effective efficient use sharing services hosted by different stakeholders, making individual often operate their own restrict possibility taking best huge existing systems. This research proposes a metadata-driven approach to facilitate cross-domain mechanism heterogeneous metadata includes set enriched description information based analysis from aspects Who, When, Where, What, Why How (5W1H) CCTV. Sharing mechanisms standardised can then suffice need querying selecting across according task at hand. One distinguished design is modelling field view (FOV) 3D perspective. By integrating with feature-based city model data, FOV not only provides visualisation spatial coverage but also enables visibility features, such selection decision be further improved indexing features. As variety continuously grows, proposed great potential serve as solid collaborated foundation applications demand comprehensive understanding dynamically changing world, e.g., smart cities, disaster management, criminal investigation, etc.
